R. Barry Barnes MD

Clinical Associate Professor University of Washington School of Medicine, Department of Family Medicine. ABFM certified, CAQ in Geriatrics. Seventeen years with Family Medicine Spokane with special interests in geriatrics, pediatrics, diabetes and nasolaryngoscopy. Active in the community as Medical Director St. Luke's Extended Care, Consultant/Teacher West Valley School District, Sacred Heart Medical Center Newborn Advisory Committee Member. Dr. Barnes is responsible for the ENT, Ophthalmology, Geriatric, and Conference Curriculum.

Barbara A Brandon DO

Clinical Instructor University of Washington School of Medicine, Department of Family Medicine. ABFM certified. Dr. Brandon completed her residency at Family Medicine Spokane in 2008. After graduation, she completed a one year fellowship in Sports Medicine here at Family Medicine Spokane. Dr. Brandon stayed on as a part time faculty and then in August 2010, she took the position as a full time faculty and Assistant Sports Medicine Fellowship Director. Dr. Brandon plays a key role in developing our relationships for physician coverage with many of Spokane's sporting events, including the Spokane Indians Baseball, Spokane Chiefs Hockey, Whitworth College, and coverage for several high school sporting events. Dr. Brandon also oversees our Osteopathic Manipulation Clinic.

F Todd Brooking MD

Clinical Instructor University of Washington School of Medicine, Department of Family Medicine. ABFM certified. Dr. Brooking graduated from SABA University School of Medicine and completed his residency at Family Medicine Spokane in 2006. He has been a practicing physician in Spokane at Deaconess Hyperbaric Unit until joining our faculty full time in September 2010. One of Dr. Brookings many duties is coordinating the residents Pediatric experience and the University of Washington Medical Student Clerkships.

John F McCarthy MD

Clinical Instructor University of Washington School of Medicine, Department of Family Medicine. ABFM certified. Dr. McCarthy joined the faculty of FMS part time in 2008 after practicing for 14 years as a rural family physician in Tonasket, Washington. Active in teaching medical students in rural Eastern Washington, Dr. McCarthy is also one of the WWAMI Clinical Coordinators for Eastern and Central Washington for the University of Washington School of Medicine.

Anne M Montgomery MD

Clinical Professor University of Washington School of Medicine, Department of Family Medicine. ABFM certified. She joined FMS as faculty full time in 2006 with 10 years of practice and teaching experience at the family medicine residency in Olympia, WA, and 5 years of small town practice experience. She completed the University of Washington, Department of Family Medicine's Faculty Development Fellowship in 1996, the AAFP Fundamentals of Management Fellowship in 2000, and is a Fellow of the Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine. She completed her residency at the University of Minnesota, St. John's Unit and graduated from Mayo Medical School. Dr. Montgomery loves full spectrum family medicine with special interest in maternity care and breastfeeding. She is also currently President-Elect of the Washington Academy of Family Physicians, to become President in May 2012.

Gary R Newkirk MD

Program Director, Clinical Professor University of Washington School of Medicine, Department of Family Medicine. ABFM certified. Twenty three years with Family Medicine Spokane, twelve as Program Director. Responsible for the academic, clinical, and fiscal management of FMS, FMSRTT residency programs and OB Fellowship. Special interests in women's healthcare, colposcopy training, Obstetrics, Native American healthcare, and computers. Active in the community as Board Member of the Community Health Association of Spokane, Native American Clinic and Primary Care Partnership.

Edward J Reisman MD

Clinical Instructor University of Washington School of Medicine, Department of Family Medicine. ABFM certified, CAQ in Sports Medicine. Dr. Reisman is the team physician for Whitworth College and a committee member for the United States Figure Skating Team. He began as full time faculty May of 2008 and will be responsible for the new Sports Medicine Fellowship. He brings several years of Family Medicine and Sports Medicine experience to Family Medicine Spokane.

Bryan K Stamm MD

Clinical Associate Professor University of Washington School of Medicine, Department of Family Medicine. ABFM certified. Dr. Stamm joined the faculty of FMS part time in 1990 and continues to bring a broad spectrum of experience to his teaching. Dr. Stamm practiced for 14 years with the Indian Health Service. He graduated from the University of Connecticut School of Medicine and completed his FM residency at the University of Connecticut FM Residency. Bryan enjoys and takes advantage of the outdoor experiences available in Eastern Washington and the Spokane area.

Karen M Wildman MD

Clinical Assistant Professor University of Washington School of Medicine, Department of Family Medicine. ABFM certified. Dr. Wildman attended Keck School of Medicine of USC and completed her residency at Glendale Adventist Family Practice Residency. Dr. Wildman joins our full time faculty November, 2010 with many years of experience in Family Medicine, herself being a former Direcor of the Casper, Wyoming residency program. Dr. Wildman moved to Spokane in 2008 and has been in a large group practice until coming to join our faculty. She enjoys full spectrum family medicine and has special interest in Women's Health.

Deborah J Wiser MD

Clinical Instructor University of Washington, ABFM Board Certified. Dr. Wiser is originally from Western Washington and graduated from Rush Medical College in 2004. She completed her residency at Family Medicine Spokane in 2009. Upon graduation she has practiced in Spokane and joined our faculty November, 2010. Dr. Wiser has many special areas of interest including obstetrics, preventive health care, and electronic health records. She currently serves on the Washington State Informatics and Therapeutics Committee, and is Chair of the Informatics Committee of the Spokane County Medical Society. She is now participating in the University of Washington Faculty Development Program. In her free time she enjoys biking, canoeing, gardening, camping, and spending time with her husband and two girls.

Robert K Maudlin PharmD

Assistant Program Director FMS and FMSRTT, Clinical Professor University of Washington School of Medicine, Department of Family Medicine. Thirty years with Family Medicine Spokane with special interest in rural healthcare, curriculum design, and funding for Graduate Medical Education. Coordinates curriculum, accreditation requirements, rotation schedules, and administrates budgets for both the FMS and FMSRTT programs. Additionally coordinates Washington State University's Pharmacy Student Program. Active in the community as a member of the Washington Rural Health Association and Society of Teachers in Family Medicine.

Robert J Maurer PhD

Clinical Assistant Professor University of Washington School of Medicine, Department of Family Medicine. In 2003 Dr. Maurer became the Behavioral Science Coordinator for FMS and FMSRTT. He brought 23 years of FM residency teaching experience with UCLA Santa Monica Medical Center. He completed his Clinical Psychology Program at the University of Houston with a one year Internship at the Houston Veterans Administration Hospital. One-on-One precepting and teaching of residents benefits both residents and patients.

Jay S. Hariharan MD

Dr. Hariharan is currently the Sports Medicine Fellow, having completed his residency in Family Medicine from the UCSF program in California. He is actively involved in the prevention and treatment of sports related injuries in competitive athletes as well as weekend warriors. Dr. Hariharan provides physician coverage for local high school and university athletic teams, as well as several local sporting events, including Hoop Fest, Spokane Chiefs hockey, Spokane Shock arena football and Spokane Indians baseball. He has a passion for the mountains and he spends his free time exploring the fascinating outdoors that the Inland Northwest has to offer. After his fellowship, Dr. Hariharan plans to practice Musculoskeletal and Sports Medicine and be involved with a high school or university sports team.

Kathryn McGree DO

Dr. McGree is from Butte, Montana. She graduated from Touro University Osteopathic School of Medicine andhas focused her training toward her interests in community medicine, obstetrics, womens health, and pediatrics. When not practicing medicine, she likes to hunt, fish, camp, run, and water ski.

Barry E Linehan PAC

Physician Assistant, joined the faculty in April 2004. He practiced as a PA since 2000 in a small community in Georgia. Responsible for triage and follow-up care of resident and faculty patients in the clinic. He coordinates the learning experience for residents with Pharmaceutical Representatives and chairs the Special Events Committee. He is an avid, avid fisherman.

Dale A Petersen PAC

Physician Assistant Clinical Associate University of Washington School of Medicine, Department of Family Medicine. Dale Joined the faculty in January, 2003. She is a 1996 graduate of University of Washington Medex NW PA Program. Dale is responsible for patient flow coordination in clinic, sees acute patients in clinic, coordinates care of the ob patients to the physicians, and tracks the followup of abnormal pap smears. Dale enjoys traveling and spending time with husband Dave and three children.
